I have just discovered thanks to the guys fromFormFiftyFive this amazing portfolio site from Nessim Higson. The site has got to be one of the most smoothest and fast running sites of its kind that I've ever seen. Its functionality is amazing and pleases me in so many ways. I find it so refreshing to see site like this, sites that are different from the norm, and something a little more exciting than an indexhibit or Blogger. Note I do have a indexhibit site and I use blogger.

Nessim describes his site “The site shell is a reaction to standardization. It’s meant to challenge the concept of space and how it’s perceived within ye olde browser window. It will undoubtably frustrate some, but may contribute to a large laugh and / or smile for others. It’s more experiment and temporary in nature than stiff and permanent.”

Ordinary kids

Ordinary kids from San Fransisco have a vast array of interesting interactive and motion graphics websites. One of their newest creations is the official website for American singer songwriter Tracy Chapman, the website is on first glance colourless, until you discover the colour pallette at the top left of the screen, the user can paint the picture in the background any colour they choose. Pretty neat huh!

Biro Creative for Greenpeace UK

Biro Creative has made its name creating innovative flash tools to help their clients tell their stories in fresh and captivating ways. I am very fond of a creation of theirs called Efficiencity, an interactive map made for Greenpeace UK which helps to inform the viewer of different alternative energy sources. It is both clever and well presented.

I discovered Sciencewerk through a friend of mine who made an illustration for the latest discussion/brief exhibition.

Sciencewerk: Clonewar is based on the premise that design and art creates value in any aspect of life as well as Science. It’s also a study of how contemporary digital artists / designers perceive the idea of science and how design may affect their perception.

The website is top notch and clever in its design and aesthetics. Be sure to check this one out.

Spectra Visual Newsreader

Every month or so I receive a newsletter from Adobe, there is always a section in it called "the edge of flash" in which it showcases the latest websites that bush the boundaries of what is capable in Flash. This month I found an online news reader called Spectra Visual Newsreader. The format is interesting and fun to use, some extreme coding and clever design.

Thisissand.com

thisissand.com is a website for play. It changes the pixels on the screen into digital sand that can be used as building material for cosmic landscapes, Clemens-style sand paintings, mandalas and so on.
This is a joint project of the designers Johanna Lundberg and Jenna Sutela with the Flash programmer Timo Koro. We wanted to create a playground of colours and sound for people to play with us in our sandbox - within the computer screen.
